ORIHUELA (June 2025) – Orihuela’s coastline has once again been recognized for its outstanding quality and environmental commitment with the awarding of the prestigious Qualitur Flag 2025. The accolade was presented on Friday during an official ceremony held at Cala de Finestrat, organized by Turisme Comunitat Valenciana.

Orihuela’s Councillor for Coastal Affairs, Manuel Mestre, accepted the award on behalf of the city, which highlights the municipality’s dedication to maintaining high standards across its beaches. The certification celebrates excellence in water quality, sand cleanliness, universal accessibility, beach safety, and user services.

The event was presided over by Marián Cano García, Regional Minister of Innovation, Industry, Commerce, and Tourism, alongside Juan Francisco Pérez Llorca, Mayor of Finestrat; José Manuel Camarero, Secretary of Tourism; and Israel Martínez, Director General of Tourism.

“The Qualitur Flag is a symbol of our commitment to responsible and sustainable tourism,” said Mestre, adding that Orihuela’s beaches remain a benchmark for both environmental care and visitor satisfaction.

This recognition distinguishes municipalities that adopt a responsible tourism management model, ensuring the availability of clean facilities, quality recreational areas, lifeguard services, and environmental protection measures that safeguard the natural coastal heritage.

Orihuela is one of 40 municipalities across the Valencian Community to receive the Qualitur Flag this year. In the province of Alicante, other award-winning coastal towns include Altea, Alicante, Benidorm, Benissa, El Campello, Dénia, Finestrat, Pilar de la Horadada, Santa Pola, Torrevieja, and Villajoyosa, showcasing the region’s strong focus on beach quality and sustainability.

With this latest accolade, Orihuela continues to strengthen its reputation as a top-tier seaside destination, blending natural beauty with high environmental standards and exceptional public services.
