The Civil Guard is investigating the death of an elderly man who was found inside his car with a gunshot wound to the chest on Friday night near the La Manga golf club.

Private security guards from the residential complex, conducting routine patrols, discovered the vehicle stopped on the hard shoulder of a roundabout with one door open. Upon inspecting the interior, they found the driver dead, with a revolver next to him, which may have been used in the shooting.

Patrols from the Civil Guard’s Cabo de Palos barracks, Cartagena’s Local Police, and paramedics arrived at the scene, but medical personnel could only confirm the man’s death. He was reportedly of Spanish nationality.

The Civil Guard has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident. The primary hypothesis is that the man died by suicide, with no indication of foul play or involvement of another person.
