Orihuela has officially kicked off the 25th edition of its Medieval Market, a three-day event filled with spectacles, surprises, and historical reenactments in the city’s historic center. Mayor Pepe Vegara, alongside Councilor for Festivities Rocío Ortuño and Consell Delegate Agustina Esteve, led the inauguration, joined by local officials and representatives from the Moros y Cristianos Association.

This year’s opening ceremony introduced a new procession from Plaza de Santiago to Rincón Hernandiano, culminating in a knightly joust that set the stage for the festivities. Hundreds of schoolchildren were the first to explore the market.

Mayor Vegara emphasized Orihuela’s rich medieval heritage, stating that the event transports visitors to a time when the city was a hub of commerce and culture. Ortuño invited locals and tourists to experience the special 25th-anniversary edition, with fresh attractions and performances.
