The Torrevieja Court of Instruction No. 2 has ordered the provisional, communicated, and non-bailable imprisonment of an individual arrested in connection with the alleged homicide that occurred last Sunday in Eras de la Sal.
The detainee is under investigation for homicide, as per the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV). Details of the case remain under judicial secrecy, but the autopsy confirmed death by force.
The Civil Guard discovered the victim’s body inside the Eras de la Sal compound, an abandoned municipal plot often used as a refuge by homeless individuals, many with addiction problems.
Both the detainee and the victim are believed to be habitual criminals, though the motives behind the alleged homicide are still under investigation.

The Eras de la Sal venue, previously known for hosting the International Habaneras Competition, has faced security issues, including vandalism and attempted fires, since 2021.
The Torrevieja City Council has been planning to remodel the site, transforming it into a new Museum of the Sea and Salt and a new auditorium for the polyphony competition. However, progress is stalled pending authorizations from other administrations.
