Former Torrevieja councillor for Contracting, Carmen Gómez Candel (PP), is set to stand trial on Thursday for alleged irregularities in contracting materials for a park in the La Siesta urbanisation.
Summoned alongside the director of the Mediterranean VIII Employment Workshop, Gómez faces charges of prevarication for allegedly deciding unilaterally which companies would provide services, splitting and dividing service costs into multiple invoices to bypass public procurement laws.
The events occurred in 2015 during Mayor Eduardo Dolón’s first term.
The Council, under a five-party coalition led by former mayor José Manuel Dolón, brought the complaint to court.
The Prosecutor’s Office seeks eleven years of disqualification from public employment for each accused.
