Torrevieja council has approved the additional costs that will ultimately be incurred for the renovation of the Nelson Mandela stadium and the construction of the new sports pavilion in La Mata.

In the municipal rugby stadium, councillor Federico Alarcón said that the cost of the works, which were awarded at 886,587 euros (VAT included), will increase by 109,755 euros, and the execution of the works will be extended for a period of two months. The reason is that problems have been detected in the structure of the stands which require reinforcement, and a good part of the irrigation network and the tiles in the showers and changing rooms will also have to be changed.

There is also an increase in the cost of the La Mata pavilion, which is due, according to Alarcón, to the fact that the chosen plot did not have a dividing wall and the maintenance room was moved to gain more space upstairs to place multipurpose rooms for directed sports activities.

All of this increases the cost of the contract signed with Orthem by 615,709 euros, without the need for an extension of the term.
