A criminal gang operating in Torrevieja, has been targeting drunken foreign tourists. The gang lures victims to secluded locations under the guise of selling drugs, only to rob them of their valuables. High-end mobile phones and watches are among the most common items stolen.
The gang, composed of three Algerian men aged 26 to 32, also employs a 15-year-old girl to carry drugs. The Civil Guard launched an investigation into the gang’s activities after noticing suspicious behaviour on Torrevieja’s promenades.
With the assistance of a German police officer stationed in Torrevieja, the Civil Guard apprehended the three suspects. A search of their residence uncovered a large quantity of stolen goods, including high-end electronics and various drugs.
The detainees face charges of criminal group membership, drug trafficking, violent robbery, and illegal occupation of property. While they have been released on bail, the Civil Guard continues to investigate the case and locate additional victims.
