The Valencia regional police have taken delivery of a new fleet of vehicles to replace their existing pool. The cars were shown off at the City of Arts and Science in Valencia.
The regional police vehicles are identifiable by their lighter blue colourings.
Meanwhile, the human resources of policing in the Alicante province has been given a boost this week, as the Valencian Institute of Public Security and Emergencies (IVASPE) has started this a new basic level course for local police in Elche, which will enable 231 agents to carry out their work once they are stationed around the province.
During the inauguration, the regional secretary of Security and Emergencies, Javier Montero, addressed the new agents to inform them that “this training is designed to prepare them as proximity agents, those who are destined to be the first contact with the population, meeting the needs of a society that has evolved and presents new challenges.”
The agents who pass the training will be integrated into 48 municipalities in the province of Alicante, reinforcing police staff, a demand from the municipalities that has been attended to by the Department of Justice and Interior.
Sixteen of the new officers will be based in Torrevieja.
The training itinerary of this course consists of 700 hours of training to which eight weeks of internships are added. The agents are trained in disciplines such as police tactics, law, criminology, personal defence, and drug detection, areas that respond to the new challenges that are being presented in society, such as crimes associated with new technologies or illegal immigration.
Upon completing the course, the new agents will be trained for the daily operations of the local police of any municipality. In addition, the course mobilises more than a hundred teachers and instructors, prestigious professionals in their various areas of specialisation.
In this regard, Javier Montero highlighted that “in this new stage at IVASPE we have put our efforts into improving the academy. So that it can once again be a training reference, a source of pride and a place of excellence.”
