The National Police have arrested three men of Moroccan nationality, between 26 and 35 years of age, for the alleged robbery with force in a home, after which they attempted to run over the owner of the house in La Aparecida, Orihuela, when he tried to prevent their escape.
They have also been charged with belonging to a criminal organisation and are now in having been placed at the disposal of the Orihuela Court of Investigation.
Agents were alerted to a robbery in a single-family home in the town. They were told by the owners that, about two hours previous, they had been warned by their alarm centre of a power outage at the home. After verifying that it was not a power failure, they went to their home to find out what was happening.
On arrival, they saw a unfamiliar vehicle outside the house after which three men who, alerted by the noise of the complainant’s engine, calmly left the interior of the home. When challenged by the owner, the three men ignored him and got into their vehicle, but not before pushing the victim who was trying to stop them from leaving.
In his eagerness to prevent their escape, the injured party stepped in front of the vehicle but quickly moved away when the driver accelerated directly toward him. The victim suffered minor injuries because of his contact with the car.
On entering the property together with the National Police, it was seen that the three alleged perpetrators had entered by forcing two doors (one main and one back). Once inside they had searched several rooms and seized a cabinet containing several pieces of gold jewellery. They could also see how the three men had been sitting calmly inside the home consuming narcotic substances and energy drinks.
Having gathered the evidence, together with the collaboration of the Crime Scene Investigators, the three alleged perpetrators were located and arrested three days later.
