Esquerra Unida and Podemos took centre stage on the promenade of Los Náufragos in Torrevieja last week where they confirmed that they will be fighting the municipal election together in 7 municipalities; Torrevieja, Orihuela, Pilar de la Horadada, Callosa de Segura, Albatera, Los Montesinos and Redován, and in some of these municipalities they also share a project with other organizations such as Podemos, Los Verdes, Vecinos por el Pilar, Alternativa Republicana or Compromís .
In 4 other municipalities Esquerra Unida/Izquierda Unida will compete alone; Almoradí, San Miguel de Salinas, Guardamar del Segura and Bigastro.
The event was attended by Héctor Illueca, second vice president and candidate for the Generalitat Valenciana, and Rosa Pérez, councillor and coordinator of Esquerra Unida.
Llueca said that “we present ourselves in Vega Baja as the only progressive on the left, our objective is to work to benefit the majority of the working population and promote social justice, in the same way that we have developed courageous policies confronting the powerful in the Valencian and National governments”.
The lists reflect an effort for unity that did not occur in 2019, to the point that in the case of Orihuela they are also joining with Cambiemos and Compromís.
