Five members of a drug gang sit in court in Alicante accused of the murder of a man who had allegedly stolen drugs from them. The National Police discovered the execution when they found the body in the trunk of a car that one of them was driving, as they were preparing to set the vehicle on fire to get rid of any evidence.
According to the prosecution the murder occurred on December 7, 2018, when the defendants were drinking with the victim in a bar in Elda. They later took him to a farm in the neighboring town of Petrer, where they allegedly shot him several times, resulting in his death.
The suspects fled in several cars, in one of which they had hidden the body inside the boot. However, two of them were intercepted on the shoulder of the A-31 motorway as they were pouring petrol into the vehicle prior to setting it on fire .
In subsequent house searches, the security forces found narcotic substances and firearms. The Prosecutor’s Office considers the accused are perpetrators of crimes of murder, belonging to a criminal group, offences against public health, illegal possession and storage of weapons.
