Golf Captain, Tony Smale, from the San Miguel Golf Society recently visited the Day Centre of Age Concern in La Siesta to present a cash donation of 200 euros to President, Maureen Payne. This extremely welcomed donation will go towards the upkeep of the vehicles and all the wealth of services provided for the over 50’s on the Southern Costa Blanca.
Tony, accompanied by his wife Wendy, enjoyed a refreshing cup of tea and chatted with some of the regulars who come to the Day Centre talking and laughing with like minded people who mostly live alone as they look forward to making new friends and getting a social life.
The San Miguel Golf Society, one of the most established and longest running Golf Clubs, boast a membership of 160 members who raise funds by dropping some money into a tin, which they call a ‘Blob Tin’. When the Tin has reached capacity, members make the decision to which well deserving charity should be the recipients of a donation, and Age Concern where highly delighted to be chosen on this occasion.
All information on any of the services provided by Age Concern can be obtained by either telephoning 966 786 887 or popping in the Centre at Calle Paganini, La Siesta on Monday – Friday between 10am and 1.30pm.
