Torrevieja handball team, Ilicar Mare Nostrum, lost its first game of the season in the visit to last season’s champions, el Visconfort Maristas de Algemesí. The torrevejenses struggled during the first period and trailed at the half time break by six goals (10-16).
They fared little better in the second period, inexplicably missing four shots from just from seven metres that would have brought them back into the game, however Algemesí stood firm and came out comfortable winners by 29-22.
The defeat drops Mare Nostrum down to fifth pace in the table, nine poits off the lead.
This Saturday, November 3, Mare Nostrum will face Almoradi in the municipal pavilion Cecilio Gallego de Torrevieja, at 18:00.
