Torrevieja will take part in Earth Hour on Saturday, March 22, by switching off the public lighting in five of its most iconic squares: Plaza de la Constitución, Plaza Miguel Hernández, Plaza del Centro Cultural Virgen del Carmen, Plaza de Oriente, and Plaza de Encarnación Puchol in La Mata. The lights in these squares will remain off from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

Concha Sala, Councillor for Public Lighting, announced that with this action, the city of Torrevieja demonstrates its full support for the global initiative led by the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF), which aims to raise awareness about climate change and environmental conservation. WWF was founded in Sydney, Australia, in 2007, and since then, it has mobilized millions of people, as well as thousands of cities and businesses, to participate annually.
