After captivating over 300,000 spectators during its two acclaimed seasons in Madrid, the most successful musical in history will arrive at the Municipal Theatre of Torrevieja as part of its national tour.

Torrevieja is set to welcome one of the most iconic musicals of all time: The Phantom of the Opera. Following its massive success in Madrid and after mesmerizing more than 160 million spectators in 21 languages across 195 cities worldwide, this legendary show begins its long-awaited tour of Spain, with performances scheduled at the Municipal Theatre of Torrevieja on June 6, 7, and 8.

This marks a milestone in the history of the renowned musical, as it is the first time The Phantom of the Opera has toured in Spanish. Following two critically and commercially successful seasons, this unprecedented tour will bring the production to new audiences across Spain. With more than 300,000 spectators already enchanted, the show has become one of the greatest global entertainment phenomena.

A Story of Passion, Mystery, and Obsession

The Phantom of the Opera tells the story of a tormented, masked figure who lurks in the Paris Opera House, imposing his will through fear on the theatre’s owners and performers. He falls madly in love with a young soprano, Christine Daaé, and becomes obsessed with nurturing her extraordinary talent—by any means necessary.

The story takes dark and tragic turns, blending romance, jealousy, and redemption in an unforgettable visual and musical spectacle.

This production stands out for its breathtaking stage design, a world-class cast, and an immersive atmosphere that draws audiences into the mystery and passion of the story. With an approximate runtime of 150 minutes, including an intermission, this production is suitable for all audiences.

The masterpiece by Andrew Lloyd Webber is considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular musicals of all time. Directed by Federico Bellone and musically directed by Julio Awad—who won the Talía Award in 2024 for this version—the production continues the legacy of a show that has captivated the world since its 1986 premiere in London’s West End.

Silvia Montesinos serves as the resident director and lyric adapter, while the costume design by Chiara Donato was awarded the Broadway World Spain Audience Award in its most recent edition.

Since its debut at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End on October 9, 1986, and its Broadway premiere at the Majestic Theatre on January 26, 1988, The Phantom of the Opera has won over 70 major theatrical awards. On January 9, 2006, it became the longest-running show in Broadway history, surpassing Cats with 7,486 performances.

The Phantom of the Opera tour will visit Spain’s major cities, bringing its mesmerizing spectacle to thousands of people. Torrevieja will have the unique opportunity to witness this unforgettable production, which combines intrigue, passion, and one of the most memorable scores in musical theatre.
