C.D. MONTESINOS 2 – C.F. INTERCITY “B” 1
Goals from Anderson and Arturo gave C.D. Montesinos the three points, in a match that proved much harder than the league positions of the two sides reflected.
This latest win, the seventh of the season for Monte, means we finish the weekend in third position with 24 points, just two points behind league leaders Santa Pola C.F. (26 points) and one point behind second placed Mutxamel C.F. (25 points).
The match itself was, as the score-line reflects, a very tight affair and although not one for the football “purists” amongst the crowd, two moments of class gave the victory to the home side.
It has certainly been a magnificent season so far. Who could have dreamt at the start of last season, when manager “Willy” threw a side together at the last minute, that Monte could have won the league and gained promotion? Better still, expectations were not high about going into the higher division this season.
But time after time, this squad have proved everybody wrong and although we have not even reached the half way stage of the season, the pre-season objective (not to be relegated), is within touching distance.
The man of the match award, Sponsored by J. Cripps, went to Anderson.
Next weekend, we are away to play Callosa Deportiva, in the hope that we can overturn our patchy away form (which has been the only disappointment this season) and come home with the points.
