So after the Christmas and New Year break, the second half of the season kicked off with a great win by Quesada Diamonds at home to El Rancho Raiders, winning on all rinks and gaining the full 12 pts and by 103 – 65 shots. Winning teams were Ann Heath, Robert Heath, Barry Armstrong, 25 – 15. Peter Rees, Peter Farrell, Harald Olsen, 27 – 8. Brenda Rees, Dave Collings, Trevor Voisey, 31 – 11.Joan Inns, Mike Sumner, Mike Inns, 22 – 20. Kim Bowles, Dave Gould, Andy Reid, 29 – 9.
Pearls were at home to La Marina, only winning on 1 rink and a draw, they still managed to obtain 5 pts to La Marinas 7, but pipped La Marina by 90 shots to 80. Winning team was George Kershaw, Claire Dye , Suzi Cooper, 26 – 14. The draw came from Mel Highland,Terry Morgan, Chris Brasier, 17 all.
Rubies had a bye.

Swifts were away to San Luis Leopards, played on one of the nicest days of the last couple of weeks. Winning on 3 rinks, losing on 2. winning teams were Cathy Skinner, Peter Bottle, George Skinner, 20 – 16. Jaqui Denman, Ray Phillipson, Peter Bradbury, 19 – 12. Tony Denman, Joan Inns, Mike Inns, 21 – 12. La Marina just won the overall shots by 2, 83 – 81 and 6 points a piece.
SAN LUIS BOWLS CLUB REPORT 10.01.25. WITH SHEILA CAMMACK
After the celebrations of Christmas and New Year, it’s now time to get back to work as we begin the second half of the winter season with a slow but positive start.
South Alicante League: Monday 6th SL Klingons were home v County Bowls Flamingos; after a tough battle they finished 4 points-8, 75 shots- 86. Winners: Dee Hoey, Carol & Gary Thorpe 20-11, Chris Jackson, June Jones, Dave Webb 16-15.
SL Trekkers had a real nip & tuck match, which could have gone either way right to the end, at home v Emerald Isle. It ended 2 wins and 1 draw each, gaining some useful points against the Neptunes; points 7-5, shots 79-78. Winners: Joy & Brian Gardiner, Jean Cooper 22-12, Kevin Stringfellow, Kevin McKenna, Peter Ayres 19-18, Mary & Phil Lockley, Ralph Jones 15-15.

Winter League: Wednesday 8th San Luis had a close match, away v Emerald Isle; 4 points-6, 65 shots-68. Winners: Peter Ayres, Gordon Paton, Keith Phillips, Dave Webb 16-13, Judy Carroll, Pauline Johnson, Barbara Louis, Dave Blackie 16-15.
SL Tigers were away at El Rancho, which is always a challenge adjusting to the speed of the carpet and as the weather got warmer, the gusts of winds grew stronger. However, we won 2 games and took the shots 90-73, points 6-6. Winners: Judy Carroll, Ralph Jones, Gordon Paton 26-14, Kevin McKenna, Sheila Cammack, Lin Miller 25-7.
SL Leopards at home v Quesada Swifts had a close match; 6points-6, 83 shots-81. Winners: Lesley & Wayne Howlett, David Whitworth 24-12, Oyvind Lund, Keith Phillips, Mike Wyatt 19-9.

SAN MIGUEL BOWLS – WEEK ENDING 10TH JANUARY 2025 – BARRY JONES
Monday saw the start of the second half of the Winter season for San Miguel and was also a local Derby Game.
The Dolphins were home to the Orcas where the Dolphins came out on top, winning 10 – 2, 99 shots to 81. The best winning triple for the Dolphins were Mary Whitelock, Graham Barwell and Gail Willshire 24 – 13 th winning triple for the Orcas were Ian Hope, Anne Young and Bill Brownlee 20 – 14.
On Wednesday it was a great result for San Miguel at home to El Rancho for the first game after the Christmas break, San Miguel had a clean sweep taking all 10 points, 105 shots to 44. The highest winning rink were Mary Whitelock, Dori Svanbergsson Steve Parr and Gail Willshire 40 – 2.
On Friday San Miguel had another local Derby Game with the Cherokees playing the Commanches. The Commanches came out on top winning 8 – 4, 86 shots to 68. The best winning trio for the Commanches were Matta Jonsdottir, Mary Whitelock and Ron Nairey 24 – 12. The best winning triple for the Cherokees were Dave Sceal, Linda Douglas and Alan Harris 16 – 14.
A reminder that the Wasps sessions take place Wednesdays 1.30pm for 2.00pm – €5 for an afternoon’s bowling with shoes and bowls available to borrow. Due to the popularity of the Wasps, first time bowlers are asked to attend an initial coaching session on Tuesday afternoons, starting at 1.45pm, by appointment ONLY. LA MARINA BOWLS CLUB WITH BARRY ROBERTS
After a long Christmas break, it was back to action in the Enterprise League with a tough away game at Quesada Pearls. The match was very close throughout, and we managed a fine 7 points to 5 win. Winning 3 rinks were Jan Parsons, Stewart Wright & Barry Roberts 19 – 15, John Burrell, Alan Birch & Karen Kirk 21 – 17, and Shirley Hadaway, Peter Parsons & Garth Slater 17 – 15.
After being behind 13 – 0 after 8 ends, the rink of Trevor Hancock, Margaret Finlayson & John Rae fought back to earn a well earned 17 – 17 draw. Overall points. 78 – 80. On Friday we entertained Country Bowls and lost the match 4 points to 8. Winning two rinks of Roger Stacy, Stewart Wright, & Barry Roberts 19 -10, and Barbara Forshaw, Norman Ship & Margaret Finlayson 20 – 19. Lost overall score by 13 shots.
No matches next week, so time for our club competitions to start.
