San Miguel Bowls Club with Barry Jones
On Monday all four teams were in action.
The Dolphins were home to San Luis Klingons and won 8 – 4, 102 shots to 82. The best winning triple with a fantastic score of 39 – 5 was Allan Patterson, Jan Farmer and Derek Farmer.
In the afternoon The Orcas were at home to Country Bowls Flamingoes scoring a 6 all draw, 69 shots to 80, the best winning triple were Stan North, Sheila Booth and Mike Douglas 15 – 9.
The Marlins were away to Phoenix BG, no result posted.
Finally, the stingrays were away to Vistabella Drivers where they shared the points 6 – 6, 84 shots to 91. The best winning triple were Terry Lock, John King and Barry Jones 20 – 13.
On Wednesday San Miguel had a bye in the Winter League.
On Friday all four teams were in action.
On Friday morning the Navajos were home to Quesada Swans where they won 8 – 4, 79 shots to 73. The best winning triple were Anne Young, Barry Jones and Dave Young 22 -8.
The Cherokees were away to Greenland Elms where they won 10 – 2, 85 shots to 70. The best winning triple were Tina Taylor, Dave Askew and Hank Van Essen 23 – 19.
On Friday afternoon the Comanches were home to Vistabella Conquistadors where they won 8 – 4, 113 shots to 76. The best winning triple were Sandi Knight, John King and Rab Harvey 35 – 9.
The Apaches were away to Quesada Swallow where they had a bad day at the office losing 12 – 0.
A reminder that the Wasps sessions take place Wednesdays 1.30pm for 2.00pm – €5 for an afternoon’s bowling with shoes and bowls available to borrow. Due to the popularity of the Wasps, first time bowlers are asked to attend an initial coaching session on Tuesday afternoons, starting at 1.45pm, by appointment ONLY. Swifts were at home to Greenlands Elms. Game was played in beautiful weather for November and a fantastic atmosphere. The game finished with the Swifts winning on 4 rinks and just 1 loss.
Winners were Chrissie Edwards, Paul Edwards, Peter Bottle, 22 – 10. Sandra Heath, Carl Evans, Steve Hibberd 16 – 13. Joan Inns, Tony Denman, Mike Inns, 14 – 12. Sue Elkington, Brian Elkington, Tony Lale, 29 – 15. Shots were98 Swifts – 68 Elms, points were 10- 2 in Swifts favour. A great win for the Swifts.
Swans were at home to Emerald Isle Cavaliers, winning on 2 rinks losing on 3. Winners were Jackie Hughes, Elaine Kern, Francois Hubrect, 17 – 14. Joe Kocsis, Dave Gould, Kim Bowles, 19 – 12. Shots were 103 – 73 and a good 8 pts -4 to the Swans.
Swallows were away to Greenlands Oaks, the Swallows won on 3 rinks, losing on 2. Winners were Brian Trinder, Paul Kern, Mel Ward, 23 – 12. Terry Morgan, Claire Dye, Suzi Cooper, 19 – 11. Graham Phillips, George Kershaw, Keith Lowry, 28 – 14. Both shots and points were in Swallows favour 93 – 80, and a good 8pts -4.

Rubies were home to Greenlands Beech, winning on 3 rinks, losing on 2. Stand out winners were Sandra Heath, Tony Denman, Steve Hibberd, 32 – 6. Alan Johnson, Tony Lale, Suzi Cooper, 15 – 12, John Cleal Max Holmes, Richard Lewin, 17- 13. Shots were 94 – 69 and 8pts -4 in the Rubies Favour.

Elms were away to Quesada Rubies and put a good fight but could only came away with 4 to 8 points in favour of Quesada.
Winter League Gladiators were away at Calpe and please to say. Back to winning once again with an 8 to 2 victory so well done keep it going now.
The Oaks were up against Country Bowls Geckos and also had a good win 8 to 4 So let’s keep it going now to achieve success with the league positions.
The Elms v San Miguel did not fair to well losing 2 to 10 which didn’t help when two players failed to turn up to play. Please get your times and days correct it makes it easier for the team.
The Cedars travelled to Monte Mar and they were all up for the game and that showed the results with them achieving an 12 nil victory so well done and that keeps them top Congratulations Cedars.
Vistabella Bowls Club
Vistabella “Greeners” were away to San Luis Bowls Club this week in the Summer League. Though the match was rained off on Monday it was played on the Thursday with a lovely sunny morning.
The result went in San Luis favour at 8 – 4 points and shots San Luis 97 Vistabella 76.
There will be no game next week due to the National Competitions being hosted most of the week by Vistabella Bowls club starting on Sunday morning. Spectators are more than welcome.
La Siesta Bowls anniversary re-union.
A year has passed since La Siesta Bowls Club closed and to mark its closure and 48 members to mark the closing and meet up, again were treated to a very enjoyable lunch at Carla’s Bar in El Chaparral. Old friends and new had the chance to catch up and share their experiences with their new clubs and reminisce about the good times in the past.
EL RANCHO BOWLS CLUB
On Wednesday the Rustlers were at Emerald Isle playing the Emperors in the winter league and although both teams played well, the Emperors took all four rinks. But the result perhaps did not do justice for the Rustlers.
Friday found the Mustangs playing host to Country Bowls Panthers, with a strong breeze making line and length tricky to find. But we were in good company and enjoyed the bowls, with a few surprises and close rinks. In the end the Mustangs took the rinks by 3 to 2, with the Panthers taking the overall shots by a small margin, hence a drawn match.

La Marina Bowls Club

Monday’s Enterprise League saw us travel to Greenlands were we were beaten 8 points to 4. Our two winning rinks of John Burrell, Norman Ship and Karen Kirk 17 – 12, and Lesley Joynes, David Joynes and Sue Daniels winning 21 – 20.
On Friday we entertained San Luis Tigers in the B division. The final score was 6 points each, with La Marina winning 3 rinks to two, but losing the overall aggregate.
Winning rinks were Margaret Mclaughlin, Carol Smith and Garth Slater 20 – 18, Barbara Forshaw, Shirley Hadaway and Peter Parsons 17 – 13, and Janet Parsons, Stewart Wright and Barry R 10 – 0.
This result was due to illness, and a forfeited match. Best wishes to the player who was taken ill from all at La Marina.
