CD THADER – 1    L´OLLERIA CF – 1

BY STEVE HIBBERD

Just as they did in the first game of the season, Thader conceded a penalty deep into stoppage time.  But, as with that game at Torrevieja, a draw was probably a fair result on chances created, although it´s always a bitter pill to swallow with only seconds remaining.  Manager Raul Mora elected to start with his namesake Raul, a just reward for his goal scoring performance as a sub in last weekends match at Redovan.

On 15 mins, only a magnificent save by Chema denied a goal bound header by Olleria striker Peiro.  In the space of 2 mins, first Dantele shoot narrowly wide of Chema´s far post, then when he did put the ball in the net, he was adjudged to be in an offside position.  When Serhiy´s shot was fumbled by visiting keeper Aimar, the ball was begging to be bundled into the back of the net, but alas support was not forthcoming.

Conditions were becoming tricky in this rain affected match, but there was no shortage of drama.  Dantele was once again in the thick of the action on 31 mins, when his effort was just off target, before Thader took the lead.  Straight from Chema´s goal kick, a well worked move involving Berni and Javi resulted in Tremino forcing Aimar into another worldly save.  From the resultant corner, Fran hit a scorcher on the half volley from the edge of the box, giving Aimar no chance.  Chema was again called into action on 35 mins, producing a fingertip save to deny Genito, before Tremino was guilty of squandering a golden opportunity, when he shot wide 6 mins later.

As the rain became relentless, conditions were increasingly difficult, but both teams continued with their entertaining attacking football – a credit to the Community League.  Yerhay was the next visiting player to test Chema´s goalkeeping credentials, but once again, Thader´s no 1 dealt admirably with the danger.  Twas that man Dantele who almost stole the show, but his firm header from a right wing cross, just missed the target.  Peruvian Pepelu unleased a glorious goalbound effort on 72 mins, but Aimar saved well to deny Thader´s diminutive midfielder a maiden goal for his new club.

Late on, Raul rattled Thader´s woodwork on 75 mins, then with normal time almost up, Yeray blasted a free kick wide of the target. With 97 mins on the clock, ref Emilio Menel awarded a penalty for handball against Javi. The resultant spot kick was confidently dispatched by Yeray, leaving all concerned to wonder where all the additional minutes added on came from!!

This point apiece sees Thader slip to 4th, whilst Olleria remain 2nd to bottom.  Next weekend, Thader make the long journey north to 3rd place Tavernes. It is advised to check CD Thader facebook page for up to date info on this and other Thader related events.
