April 7, 2025 – The Guardia Civil has arrested a 41-year-old Slovakian man who was wanted by authorities in his home country. The arrest took place during a routine operation, and the suspect was subject to an active European Arrest Warrant for his extradition.
The operation occurred on March 29 as part of a preventive police control in one of Torrevieja’s main leisure areas. The objective was to check individuals and vehicles entering the port area, which is popular with visitors on weekends.
During the operation, officers noticed a vehicle whose driver attempted to avoid the checkpoint. As a precaution, the patrol intercepted the vehicle, which was occupied by two individuals.
After confirming their identities, it was found that the passenger was the subject of the European Arrest Warrant, issued by Slovakian judicial authorities. Further investigation revealed the man had been living in Spain since mid-2024.
The suspect was brought before Spain’s Central Court of Investigation No. 2 at the National Court, which ordered his provisional imprisonment pending extradition to Slovakia.
