Torrevieja, April 2, 2025 – The Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, along with the Councilor for Security and Emergencies, Federico Alarcón, and the Director General of Police, Alejandro Morer, presented 17 new vehicles for the Local Police this morning at Paseo Vista Alegre. The vehicles have been acquired through a four-year lease agreement with an option to purchase.
The total budget for these vehicles amounts to €1,147,660.80, with an annual cost of €286,915.20.
The new fleet includes:
- 10 hybrid SUV patrol cars (4 equipped with police gear and detainee transport kits, and 6 with police equipment but without detainee kits).
- 2 vans (1 for accident reporting, fully equipped for police use, and 1 nine-seater van with police equipment).
- 1 off-road pickup truck equipped for the Environmental Group.
- 4 unmarked support vehicles for general police services (each fitted with magnetic LED beacons and sirens, and 3 featuring police insignias on both doors, as well as on the front and rear hoods).
Additional Equipment Provided
The contracted supplier, TRANSTEL, has offered additional equipment at no extra cost to the Torrevieja City Council, including:
- A high-quality workshop tool cart with at least 170 tools, valued at €300.
- Two portable vehicle battery starters, each worth €200.
- Two fixed/portable vehicle chargers and starters, each valued at €600.
Mayor Highlights Commitment to Police Resources
Mayor Eduardo Dolón emphasized the significant financial investment made by the City Council in recent years to modernize the police fleet and expand the number of officers. He noted that the Local Police force has seen substantial growth over the past two years.
Finally, Dolón stated that by the end of the current term in 2027, the goal is to increase the Local Police force to 200 officers, ensuring the highest level of public safety for both residents and the thousands of tourists who visit Torrevieja each year.
