The Councillor for Street Cleaning and RSU, Rocío Ortuño, announced this morning that municipal workers are currently carrying out clean-up operations on Orihuela’s eleven beaches, which were affected by the recent storms.

The clean-up includes manual cleaning of the beaches and surrounding areas, as well as the use of specialized machinery from the Street Cleaning and RSU Department. This equipment is being used to sift and transport sand, remove debris, and clear other waste that has accumulated on the shore.

As Ortuño highlighted, the department is responsible for beach maintenance, which includes sifting and cleaning the sand, emptying and replacing waste bins, and ensuring the beaches remain in optimal condition. Currently, the municipal team is working on levelling, flattening, and turning over the sand before proceeding with final sifting and refinement.

These tasks will be completed in the coming days in preparation for the Easter holiday season, when Orihuela Costa welcomes residents and tourists eager to enjoy its beautiful coastline.
