On a cold and blustery Tuesday afternoon last week 31 members of the Torrevieja U3A escaped to the warmth and delights of the Atelier du Chef, a French pâtisserie in the heart of Torrevieja.
The owner and chef, who trained at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu in Paris spoke about the history of French pâtisserie and his passion for his profession and products. As the only certified French pâtissier in the Valencian region, he also enlightened us about the exacting standards he had to achieve in order to obtain his certification with Le Cordon Bleu.
His fascinating talk was followed by a cup of tea or coffee and a plate of four exquisite pâtisseries to share per table.
The event was both interesting and delicious and was well received by the attendees, many leaving clutching boxes of cakes and vowing to return with friends and family.
