The Almoradí Council has intensified its campaign against illegal dumping following the removal of more than four tons of waste from various areas across the municipality.
The cleanup effort, led by the Departments of Works and Services and Urban Sanitation — under the direction of Miguel Monge and Domingo Andreu — is part of an ongoing initiative to improve the town’s image and address health hazards caused by debris and unauthorized trash disposal.
To combat the issue, the Council is deploying an awareness campaign that includes warning signs, clear information on fines, and public reminders about the consequences of illegal dumping. Offenders can face penalties of up to €6,000 for discarding waste in non-designated areas.
“These campaigns are costly and entirely avoidable if everyone simply followed the existing regulations,” said Councilor Miguel Monge. “We urge all residents to act responsibly and help protect our shared environment.”
Recent cleanup operations have taken place at Cruz de Galindo, Puente de Don Pedro, Cotillén, Bañet, and Heredades — areas repeatedly affected by illegal dumping. The latest effort marks the fourth large-scale removal in recent months, with municipal crews collecting an estimated four tons of discarded debris, household items, and general litter.
Councilor Monge emphasized the need for collective responsibility, stating, “Keeping Almoradí clean is not just the task of City Hall — it requires public cooperation. We’ll continue taking action, but only with community involvement can we put an end to these waste dumps and maintain a clean, healthy environment for all.”
