C.D. Jávea 1-0 C.D. Montesinos
The longest away trip of the season took Monte to Jávea, where a handful of loyal supporters braved the journey despite the relentless bad weather. The conditions remained miserable at kick-off, setting the stage for a tough battle.
The first half was largely fought in midfield, with neither side able to maintain possession for long spells. The strong wind constantly disrupted play, making it difficult to build any real momentum. Jávea managed one impressive attacking move, forcing Pablo into a superb save to push the ball around the post. At the other end, Monte’s Ruz nearly caught the keeper off guard with a long-range free kick from 30 yards.
The second half started in similar fashion, but Monte gradually dropped deeper, allowing Jávea to take control. Pablo was called into action once again, producing another vital save. Then, around the hour mark, a potential turning point—Jávea went down to 10 men after one of their players was sent off for elbowing Xavi. Surely, this was Monte’s moment to push for the win!
However, despite the numerical advantage, it was Jávea who looked the more dangerous side, continuing to create the better chances. Monte came close to breaking the deadlock in the 75th minute, only to be denied by a fine save. Pablo then pulled off yet another excellent stop from close range to keep us in the game.
Then, disaster struck in the 90th minute. Jávea broke down the right flank and, despite a packed Montesinos defence, the winger delivered a pinpoint cross into the box. One clinical finish later, and it was 1-0. Jávea’s fans erupted in celebration, while Monte was left to rue a frustrating defeat.
A disappointing result, but as always, vamos Monte!
