The Orihuela Family Department, in collaboration with the Cibervoluntarios Foundation, is offering free digital training workshops for seniors to enhance their tech skills and independence.
Tailored Workshops for Seniors
All of the sessions are being held in Orihuela City, starting in March at the María Moliner Municipal Public Library. They will cover a variety of digital topics:
“Conectados” (March 5-6) – For ages 55+, teaching mobile use, video calls, online procedures, and digital entertainment safely.
“En mi pueblo” (April 9-10) – Helping seniors create videos on their traditions and experiences, promoting intergenerational exchange.
“Yo Conecto” (May 6-9) – A comprehensive course for 60+, covering online security, banking, learning platforms, social media, and video calls.
“Saludables” (June 4-5) – Focused on health apps for medical appointments, prescriptions, nutrition, and exercise.
Councilor Carmen Portugal highlighted the initiative’s goal of fostering independence and improving family communication, especially with younger generations.
Closing the Digital Gap
Juan Francisco Pérez, from the Cibervoluntarios Foundation, emphasized the importance of bridging the digital divide. The foundation, a global leader in digital inclusion, has trained over 4,500 volunteers and collaborated with 5,000+ organizations.
