The Civil Guard has dismantled a cyber fraud gang that used identity theft and document forgery to buy vehicles worth over €180,000 and attempt fraudulent loans of €300,000. The operation, “Saxum24,” led to the arrest of three individuals in Madrid.

The investigation began in August 2024 after a vehicle sales company reported suspicious transactions in dealerships across Torrevieja, Orihuela, and Elche. The criminals lured victims through fake real estate ads, collecting personal and financial data from those interested in renting homes. They then used this information to apply for loans and purchase vehicles in Alicante, Madrid, and Almería under false identities.

Two suspects, a 29-year-old man and woman, were caught in Madrid while attempting to collect a fraudulently purchased vehicle. Authorities blocked the delivery of four other cars. On January 13, 2025, the gang’s 33-year-old leader was arrested in Parla, Madrid. In total, the case involved 22 crimes, including fraud, identity theft, and document forgery.
