The initiative aims to enhance personal and professional skills for vulnerable groups.
The Councilor for Social Welfare of Torrevieja, Óscar Urtasun; the President of the Alicante Provincial Committee of the Red Cross, Francisco Galvañ; AGAMED’s Managing Director, Jorge Ballesta; and AGAMED’s Deputy Manager, Gemma Cruz, have signed the launch of the second phase of the “OLA” Program. This initiative is designed to improve the employability of individuals benefiting from AGAMED’s Social Fund. Under the acronym OLA—Occupation, Leadership, and Support—the program addresses key employment goals for its beneficiaries.
This labour inclusion program focuses on strengthening both personal and professional skills for vulnerable individuals. Additionally, by providing support for basic needs, participants will receive career guidance and training to facilitate their entry into the job market, ultimately improving their quality of life.
All parties involved have expressed their strong support for the continuation of this initiative, which builds upon AGAMED’s Social Fund, established over a decade ago in the city. Beyond financial aid for water bill expenses, beneficiaries of this program will have the opportunity to enter the workforce.
This partnership between the City Council, the Red Cross, and AGAMED aims to promote access to stable employment, improving the economic and social situation of vulnerable individuals and Social Fund beneficiaries. Moreover, it represents a commitment to strengthening collaboration between the social, public, and private sectors to drive meaningful social change toward a more prosperous and dignified future for those in need.
Phases of the OLA Program
The OLA program includes various stages of support for individuals facing unemployment. The initial phase, lasting six months, begins with an assessment of each participant’s employability and basic needs. Based on this evaluation, the program offers career counseling and short training sessions to enhance essential skills.
Additional program components include specialized technical training, job placement assistance, labour market research, interview coaching, basic needs support, and an impact assessment to measure the program’s effectiveness. By empowering participants, the initiative also seeks to strengthen their entire family unit, fostering both personal and professional growth.
The total budget allocated for this initiative, included in AGAMED’s financial plan, amounts to €16,000.
