The Torrevieja City Council, TM Grupo Inmobiliario, and the Spanish Red Cross have signed a collaboration agreement to launch a Residential Exclusion Prevention Project in the city. This initiative aims to ensure access to housing for individuals and families in vulnerable situations.
The agreement was signed by Óscar Urtasun, Councilor for Social Welfare and Housing; Ángeles Serna, President of TM Grupo Inmobiliario; and Francisco Galvañ, President of the Alicante branch of the Red Cross.
Óscar Urtasun explained that, the agreement seeks to improve the quality of life for Torrevieja residents by providing assistance to individuals and families registered in the municipality who struggle to access or maintain their homes.
This support is intended for those who do not qualify for existing government housing assistance programs.
The one-year agreement, which can be extended annually, prioritises support for:
- Families with children
- Households with dependents or individuals with severe disabilities
- Homeless individuals
- People who have been evicted and urgently need housing
- Victims of violence in need of relocation
- Other individuals in extreme vulnerability, as determined by primary social services
As part of the agreement, TM Grupo Inmobiliario will contribute €20,000, which will go towards rent payments for beneficiaries. The Red Cross will manage these funds in collaboration with the city’s social services department.
During the signing ceremony, Ángeles Serna emphasized TM Grupo Inmobiliario’s commitment to social responsibility:
“We are proud to support public-private partnerships like this, which align with our Corporate Social Responsibility Master Plan. We hope this initiative will inspire other economic and social agents to join in and amplify its impact, helping more people facing housing insecurity.”
Meanwhile, Francisco Galvañ highlighted the significance of the initiative for the Red Cross:
“In Torrevieja, we work with families at serious risk of housing exclusion. This partnership will make a real difference in improving the quality of life for those who cannot afford housing. We deeply appreciate this initiative for its immense social value to the city.”
