Local police officers in Rojales were forced to break the windows of two parked cars in the municipality to rescue two children who had been left inside. The parents of the children were unable to open the vehicles as they had forgotten the keys.

The first incident occurred at around 6:00 PM on February 3. A resident of the town contacted the local police after noticing a child locked inside a car, with the child’s parent unable to unlock the vehicle.

Upon arriving at the scene, the officers decided to break the window farthest from the child to ensure minimal risk. They were careful to avoid breaking any glass that could harm the minor.

A similar situation unfolded a week later on February 10 at approximately 1:30 PM, near the health centre. Again it was a concerned resident who alerted the police about a child trapped in a vehicle, with the parent locked out. As before, officers responded by breaking the window to rescue the child.

The Rojales Local Police are reminding the public that leaving children unattended in vehicles is dangerous and may even be considered a case of child abandonment. “While these two incidents ended with a happy outcome, we have seen similar situations that didn’t have such a positive resolution, including cases of theft or car thefts with children inside,” a police spokesman stated.

In addition, the authorities encourage parents to always keep a close eye on their children. Antonio López, the Councillor for Security, urges the public to assist local officers by reporting any suspicious or dangerous situations to help avoid tragic outcomes.
