A man was arrested for drug trafficking in Torrevieja after Civil Guard officers, investigating an unrelated home robbery, found him to be in possession of over 300 MDMA pills and other illicit substances hidden in a bag.

The Civil Guard responded to an alarm call about a burglary at a residence in Torrevieja in the early hours of January 22. Upon arrival, officers apprehended a 43-year-old woman near the scene. She had a history of property crimes and had allegedly broken into the house by smashing the door and windowpanes, though she left without stealing any items. She was arrested for burglary with force.

During the same operation, officers noticed a man acting suspiciously at a nearby fuel station. After identifying him, they found he had prior offenses related to drug trafficking and property crimes. A search revealed a large bag in his trouser pocket containing 347 MDMA (ecstasy) pills, 1.43 grams of marijuana, 0.66 grams of cocaine, and 150 euros in cash.

Due to the quantity of drugs seized, the 24-year-old suspect was arrested for drug trafficking, classified as a crime against public health.

Both individuals, who are not connected, were put before the Torrevieja duty court. The judge ordered their release with precautionary measures. These arrests were part of the Civil Guard’s Operational Plan to combat drug consumption and retail trafficking in leisure areas.
