The Councilor for Social Welfare, Coexistence, and Integration of the Torrevieja City Council, and head of the Migrant Assistance Office (PANGEA), Óscar Urtasun, reported that a total of 1,678 people were assisted by the office in 2024.

Of these, 53% were women and 47% were men, representing a total of 56 different nationalities. The office provided assistance to 743 people via telephone and 935 in person.

Additionally, Óscar Urtasun highlighted that the majority of those assisted were Colombian nationals (36%), followed by Russian (15%), Moroccan (9%), British (5%), European Union nationals (4%), and individuals from various other non-EU countries (31%).

The most common issues addressed by the PANGEA Office included:

Residence through social integration (40%)

Immigration/National Police matters (30%)

Spanish language courses (15%)

Other types of information (15%)

SOCIAL INTEGRATION REPORTS

The Councilor stated that in 2024, a total of 379 social integration reports were issued, with 47% for men and 53% for women. These reports assisted migrants from 32 different countries, with the most represented nationalities being Colombia (39%), Russia (17%), Morocco and Brazil (5% each)

New countries such as Panama and Saint Lucia were included in the demand for reports compared to 2023.

PANGEA ORGANIZED ACTIVITIES

Lastly, Óscar Urtasun highlighted that during the past year, two Spanish language courses were organized for immigrant foreigners in the process of obtaining residency. These courses, which included theoretical and practical workshops, covered literacy and basic Spanish levels. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Association for Transformation and Social Integration (ATIS).

Additionally, several informational sessions were held for associations and community groups to explain PANGEA’s services and the process for applying for social integration residency.

Furthermore, the II “World Cup” 7-a-side Football Tournament was held under the theme “Integration Through Sport.” This event brought together teams from 10 countries (Cape Verde, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Colombia, Ecuador, Romania, Ukraine, Brazil, and Spain), with the aim of promoting coexistence among residents of different nationalities.
