Celebrations from February 7 To March 2
Torrevieja’s Mayor, Eduardo Dolón, and Francisco Pizana have signed a collaboration agreement allocating a budget of €100,000 to the carnival. From this year onward, the Torrevieja Carnival Cultural Association will manage all events and activities of the program.
The prestigious Golden Shield of the Association has been awarded to Concepción Mercader Valdés, also known as “Conchita Valdés,” recognized as the main ambassador of Torrevieja’s carnival worldwide with her troupe “La Sal de Torrevieja.”
This year’s official town crier for the carnival is Alicante-born comedian Jorge Cremades, one of Spain’s most influential digital creators, boasting over 3 million Instagram followers.
Mayor Eduardo Dolón, Festival Councilor Rosario Martínez Chazarra, and Francisco Pizana, President of the Torrevieja Carnival Cultural Association, have officially presented the 2025 Torrevieja Carnival program, recognized as a Regional Tourist Interest Festival.
The program is packed with events, music, and vibrant colors, structured to attract tourism by concentrating the main events on weekends. This will allow visitors to experience one of the most exciting and colorful celebrations in the Valencian Community.
With the new collaboration agreement, the Association now has full autonomy over event management, ensuring greater flexibility and efficiency in organizing the carnival. Mayor Dolón emphasized the significance of the carnival for Torrevieja, highlighting its transformation into one of the city’s most participatory and popular events, with over 2,000 participants across more than 30 troupes. The local government aims to have the carnival designated as a National Tourist Interest Festival in the coming years.
Among the new additions for 2025 is an increase in prize funding for the Carnival Parade Contest, rising from €15,000 to €22,000. The revival of the “Teatrico” performance and expanded participation in the Foráneas Parade will also enhance the festivities, with 15 troupes from various parts of Spain taking part. Torrevieja remains one of the few Spanish cities to feature four open and inclusive parades.
