SAN MIGUEL BOWLS – BARRY JONES
On Monday all four team were in action. The Dolphins were away to La Marina and came away with a 8 – 4 victory, winning on three rinks 90 shots to 67. The best winning trip were Jan Farmer, Dave Greenland and Steve Cantley 28 – 17.
The Orcas were away at San Luis Klingons, unfortunately the Orcas didn’t have a good morning losing 2 – 10, 72 shots to 98, the winning trip were Bob Donnelly, Ann Taylor and Jack Jackson 18 – 12.
The Marlins were at to San Luis and lost 0 – 12, better luck next game.
The Stingrays were at home in the afternoon against Phoenix and had a great result winning 12 – 0, the best winning trip were Terry Lock, Matta Jonsdottir and Kari Hilmarsson 29 – 10.
The Winter League team were in action on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. On Tuesday San Miguel had an early start away to El Cid losing 2 – 8, the winning rink were Dave Homer, Hank Van Essen, Ron Nairey and Mike Douglas 19 – 12.On Wednesday San Miguel were away to Emerald Isle winning 7 – 3, 63 shots to 60. Best winning rink were Paul Hayward, Ron Peters, Ron Nairey and Eddie Cowan 19 – 16.
The Berleen team were also in action losing 13 – 19.
On Friday the Navajos were away to Quesada Swallows where they lost 2 – 10, 77 shots to 06, the winning trip were Jack Jacksons Sue Gell and Bob Donnelly 16 – 15.
A reminder that the Wasps sessions take place Wednesdays 1.30pm for 2.00pm – €5 for an afternoon’s bowling with shoes and bowls available to borrow. Due to the popularity of the Wasps, first time bowlers are asked to attend an initial coaching session on Tuesday afternoons, starting at 1.45pm, by appointment ONLY. South Alicante League: Monday 20th SL Klingons had a great result at home v San Miguel Orcas taking 10 points-2, 98 shots-72. Winners: Chris Jackson, June Jones, Dave Webb 23-14, Dee Hoey, Carol & Gary Thorpe 21-13, Judy Carroll, Gordon Paton, David Blackie 25-12, Cathy & Noel Morrisroe, Barbara Louis 17-15.
SL Romulans were away v San Miguel Marlins and had an excellent result; 12 points-0, 128 shots- 68. Southern League: Friday 24th SL Lions were away v San Miguel Apaches and had a tough battle, finishing 4 points-8, 76 shots-80. Winners: Peter Ayres, Carol & Gary Thorpe 21-15, Dee Hoey, June Jones, Dave Webb 20-11.
SL Tigers in spite of some close fought battles, had a really “bad day at the office”, at home v Greenlands Cedars 0 points-12, 63 shots-119. Hopefully better luck next week!

LA MARINA BOWLS – BARRIE ROBERTS
On Monday we entertained San Miguel Dolphins in the Enterprise League, and despite some close matches San Miguel took the match by 8 points to 4. Our winning rinks: Jan Parsons, Stewart Wright, & Barry Roberts, and Lesley & Dave Joynes skipped by Sue Daniels.
On Friday, we entertained Montemar in the B division and took all five rinks for a 12points to 0 victory. All new comers or experienced bowlers are always welcome at La Marina Bowls at the Sports Complex on Calle Berne.
QUESADA BOWLS CLUB WITH CHRISSIE EDWARDS.

Swifts were at home to Vistabella Conquistadors, a morning game in cold conditions against some stiff opposition. Obtaining a good 6 all draw, by winning on 3 rinks. Winners were Tina Brinton, Ray Phillipson, Meurig Thomas. 28 – 16. Sue Elkington, Joan Inns, Barry Martyn, 21 – 20. Jacqui Denman, Tony Denman, Peter Bottle. 17-15. Overall shots went to Vistabella 93 – 90.
Swans were at home to Swallows, a league derby for these teams played in cold and damp conditions, even though it was an afternoon match. Swallows came out on top by winning on 3 rinks, winners were, George Carnell, Violet Campbell, Peter Morgan. 24 – 12. Graham Phillips, Mark France, Jason Prokopowic. 28 – 14. Rubies were at home to Vistabella Drivers, conditions were cold but the Rubies pulled off a great 10 – 2 win, by winning on 4 rinks. Keeping the pressure on the league leaders. Winners were Alan Johnson, Ray Phillipson, Meurig Thomas. 24 – 8. John Cleal, Max Holmes, Richad Lewin. 17 – 12. Tina Britton, Tony Denman, Peter Bottle, 21 – 13. Jacqui Denman, Sandra Johnson, Steve Hibberd. 20 – 14. Shots also went to the Rubies 94 – 71. Well done everybody.
