The Civil Guard stopped a vehicle owned by the Rojales council on November 29 just after 11am for a routine check.

After stopping the van, the officers found that the vehicle did not have a current Technical Vehicle Inspection (ITV). They then carried out an alcohol test on the driver, a municipal worker who tested positive and had to leave the vehicle.

The sanctions were imposed at the kilometre point 18.5 of a secondary road, the CV-920, which connects Rojales with San Fulgencio and Guardamar del Segura, in the middle of the traditional orchard.

200 euros and an internal investigation

The fine for an out of date ITV, which will be paid by the City Council, is 200 euros. The other sanction was personally handed over to the driver in hand, who must pay it out of his pocket.

As it was an area outside the urban centre of Rojales, the control was being carried out by Civil Guard officers, an area outside the jurisdiction of the Local Police.

Works and Services

It was a municipal van-type vehicle attached to Works and Services of the City of Rojales. Mayor Antonio Pérez has since opened an investigation.
