Torrevieja has announced it’s extensive Christmas programming that “covers fun, dynamism and activities for all audiences”.

The presentation said that the Christmas campaign has already begun, with the beautification of commercial establishments and facades, as a measure of promotion of Christmas purchases with the placement of a red model in the urban commercial area and in La Mata, and decoration of Christmas poinsettias, as well as the distribution of 30,000 custom Christmas bags made of recycled paper throughout the commercial fabric of the municipality.

The 20th Christmas Window Dressing Contest has also been launched, where more than 30 commercial establishments have made their request for participation by dressing their shops for the occasion.

In short, there is extensive programming with about 40 activities, which merges with educational, cultural and recreational-festive activities for children, adolescents and the elderly. The activities began on December 14, and extend until Friday, January 5, with the traditional Parade of Kings.

As usual the cost of the activities is not publicised, however the companies Producearte and Venttus Illusion will provide two lots for 199,000 euros (VAT included), with the Three Kings costing another 237,000 euros, awarded to Baluarte Events.

Program Highlights

Saturday 21 December:

Formula 1 simulators from 6-10 pm c/ Conception with c/ Photographers Darblade.

Nena Daconte concert in the square at 10.30pm.

On the 22nd and 24th of December, both in Torrevieja and in La Mata, there will be a Father Christmas House where children will be able to hand in their letters in person, as well as having more surprises, sweets, entertainment.

Christmas Events in Torrevieja, 2024

Here’s a breakdown of the Christmas events in Torrevieja:

December 22nd, 6:30 PM: Enjoy a spectacular Christmas Drone Show at Paseo Juan Aparicio. This is a new addition to the festivities, perfect for all ages.

December 23rd, 6:30 PM: The traditional Grand Santa Claus Parade will take place, featuring new stories about snowmen, unicorns, fairies, and elves. The parade will start at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Centre and end on Calle Concepción.

December 26th, 11:00 AM: A synthetic ice rink and a Christmas market will open in La Mata’s Plaza Encarnación Puchol. Enjoy free ice skating around the Christmas tree.

December 28th, 10:30 PM: The popular Spanish rock band, Mojinos Escocios, will perform at the Plaza de la Constitución.

December 30th: Enjoy the children’s San Silvestre run in La Mata, followed by the adult San Silvestre Night Run in the city centre.

December 31st: Celebrate New Year’s Eve with a children’s party at 12:00 PM in Plaza de la Constitución, followed by the traditional midnight countdown.

January 3rd and 4th: The Three Wise Men will be collecting letters from children at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Torrevieja and at Plaza Encarnación Puchol.

January 5th, 5:30 PM: The Grand Parade of the Three Wise Men will conclude the festive season.

Rosario Martínez highlighted the varied programming that has been carried out, the most extensive to date, where the needs of all sectors of the community are met and, in addition, the importance of the commercial fabric of the city as a fundamental part of its economic and social development is extolled.

She concluded by saying that “the City of Torrevieja continues with the firm commitment to tourist destabilisation so that at this time our residents are proud of their city, and that our visitors want to come every year to celebrate Christmas with us.
