The National Police have seized more than 180 kilograms of marijuana smuggled from Spain to Germany via a parcel delivery company in Torrellano. A 27-year-old Dutch man, suspected of orchestrating the operation, was arrested after being caught attempting to send another shipment of drugs.

The Investigation and Arrest

The operation began when officers identified a suspicious package at a transport company in Torrellano. Upon inspection, they discovered 56 vacuum-sealed bags containing 57 kilograms of marijuana hidden in plastic boxes sealed with glue.

Further investigation revealed the suspect had been using a false name to send the packages. He was located in San Fulgencio while attempting to dispatch another shipment. Police seized an additional 30.66 kilograms of marijuana from his rental van and immobilized the vehicle.

International Collaboration

After the arrest, Spanish authorities coordinated with their German counterparts, who intercepted four packages previously sent by the suspect. These contained 40 kilograms of marijuana already in Germany, ready for delivery.

Additional Findings

A follow-up inspection at the Torrellano transport company uncovered six more packages containing 50 vacuum-packed bags, weighing a total of 55.653 kilograms. This confirmed the suspect’s ongoing illegal activity.

Legal Proceedings

The detainee, who has a criminal record for prior offenses, was presented before the Orihuela Court of Instruction.

This coordinated effort highlights the commitment of Spanish authorities to combat international drug trafficking.
