Carlos Mazón, President of the Generalitat, has emphasized the significance of the new Leisure Centre at the Port of Torrevieja, calling it a “great reference for the tertiary sector and tourism in the Mediterranean arc.” During his visit with Torrevieja Mayor Eduardo Dolón, Mazón highlighted the 100 million euro investment as a prime example of public-private collaboration that boosts economic activity, job creation, and tourism.

Mazón announced the tendering of 630 social housing units in Torrevieja, aimed at those in need, under the Vive Plan, demonstrating the Consell’s commitment to public housing access. He also mentioned the imminent awarding of the CV-95 project, a crucial infrastructure for the Vega Baja and Alicante province.

The transformation of the Port of Torrevieja, with over 100 million euros invested, includes the new leisure area, renovation of the fishing area, and demolition of old buildings. The project is progressing well, with the car park expected to open in January and the rest of the facilities by summer 2025.

Mazón praised Torrevieja’s integration of port activity with tourism, leisure, sport, and culture, enhancing its appeal as a tourism hub. He also visited the new Adiem Foundation day centre for people with mental illness, highlighting the collaboration between Adiem, the Council, and the Generalitat in advancing social policies. The centre will soon open with 30 places for individuals with mental illness.
