Torrevieja’s Purísima festivities took an illuminating turn yesterday with the official lighting of the Christmas lights. The Plaza de la Constitución was packed with excited residents, young and old, eager to witness the annual spectacle.
The new Salt Court, alongside Mayor Eduardo Dolón and local councillors, pressed the button simultaneously, illuminating the square with a spectacular display.
The newly installed Christmas lights, a half-million-euro investment, have been gracing the city since October, with the iconic light garlands adorning the Immaculate Conception Church.
The festive atmosphere is set to continue with a series of events. Next weekend, the traditional charamita procession will take place on Saturday, followed by a flower offering to La Purísima in the afternoon.
It will also see the inauguration of the Municipal Nativity Scene, which this year has a large marquee, as well as new figures and a special design with various images and stories dedicated to the Torrevieja of the past.
As the city prepares for the peak of the festivities, Torrevieja’s residents and visitors alike can look forward to a vibrant celebration filled with music, tradition, and community spirit.
