Daya Vieja is one of the municipalities in the province of Alicante with the lowest garbage rate thanks to separation at source. However, it has had to increase the tariff, as all municipalities are currently doing, in order to adapt to European and state regulations, which requires the public to contribute according to the real cost of the service so that it does not result in a deficit in municipal costs
In the smallest municipality of La Vega Baja, with less than 800 inhabitants, the price is increasing 16.66 euros – 16% – from 102 euros per year to 118.66.
According to the mayor, José Vicente Fernández, the calculation has been made on the basis of the data from 2023, so it only includes six months following the introduction of the door-to-door collection service.
In another local municipality, Dolores the price is actually being decreased, by almost 10 euros – from 138.89 euros per year to 129.40 euros – due also to the door-to-door collection service.
