Following a report by a member of the public the Civil Guard and the Local Police of La Nucía (Marina Baixa) have arrested six men of various nationalities for a robbery with violence and intimidation in Guardamar del Segura, after disguising themselves as policemen.
The detainees pretended to be agents, using firearms and false police material, including national police badges, to commit the robbery.
On 15 October, La Nucía Local Police received a warning about suspicious individuals who were refuelling a vehicle using a jar in a municipal parking. Upon arrival, the officers found six men with three vehicles, who were carrying different types of weapons and wearing clothing material screen-printed with the National Police logo. They immediately requested the support of the Civil Guard based in Altea.
The officers proceeded to identify the suspects and verify the origin of the vehicles and the confiscated goods. During the arrest, they received information about a violent robbery that had just occurred in Guardamar del Segura, where several hooded individuals, pretending to be police officers and carrying firearms, ski masks, police badges and handcuffs, had stolen a vehicle and other valuables.
The description of two of the suspects coincided with those of the perpetrators. In addition, two of the vehicles found corresponded to those used in the assault and the third was a vehicle stolen from Guardamar. Among the seized items the police found 5,256 euros in cash and other effects belonging to the victim of the earlier theft.
The six individuals, all men between 24 and 50 years of age and with a history of crimes, were arrested as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of robbery with violence and intimidation, illegal possession of weapons and membership of a criminal group.
The stolen items have since been returned to their rightful owner, and the investigation has been taken over by the Territorial Judicial Police Team of Almoradí.
