It is fast approaching that time of year for the annual Service of Remembrance where we honour the memory of all those, both military and civilians, that endured in order to provide us a life without tyranny.
This years’ Service at the Capilla de las Mil Palmeras (Church of a thousand palms) at Pilar de la Horadada on Sunday, 10th November 2024 at 1100, will be conducted by Pastor Keith Brown.
The team, headed up by Kevin Reardon, Eddie Coleman and Jean Heald, who have grown the event to become ever more successful over the years, and staged last years event under the banner of the Levante Veterans and Friends Group, have been directing and supporting the local branch of the Royal Naval Association to ensure that the same high standards are maintained this year.
As in previous years, this event receives tremendous support from the Pilar de la Horadada Ayuntamiento and the wider community and we are proud to again have the Mayor Jose Mariá, his councillors and Sara Munsterhjelm, Vice Consul, British Consulate, Alicante, in attendance.
As in previous years, we have the Torrevieja Pipes & Drums leading the march of the standards to the church. During the service, the Last Post & Reveille will be played by buglar, Ian Gibson and the Lament will be played by Pipe Major Brian Day, along with a performance by Soloist, Cindy Fitzparick and the ever-present Costa Blanca International Concert band.
For anyone who wishes to join with us, the service will conclude with the laying of the wreaths and crosses in the ‘Garden of Remembrance’.
We welcome all those that wish to ‘Remember’ at this poignant event.
Tony Jenkins – RNATB Chairman.
