Alicante-Elche Airport Gears Up for a Record-Breaking Winter

Alicante-Elche Airport is poised for an exceptional winter season, with a substantial increase in passenger capacity. The terminal is expecting a 12.8% boost in seats compared to the previous year, offering a total of 7.3 million seats across approximately 39,200 flights. The season kicks off on October 27th and concludes on March 29th.

The United Kingdom remains the airport’s top market, with a 7% increase in scheduled seats to 2.3 million. London and Manchester continue to be the most popular destinations for winter flights to and from Alicante.

Brussels takes the third spot, followed by the Spanish cities of Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca.

African flights, particularly from Algeria and Morocco, are experiencing a significant surge, with a 94.3% growth to 250,000 seats.

Other European countries are also expanding their offerings. The Netherlands has increased seats by 6% to 476,000, while Germany and Belgium have seen growth of 19.1% and 16%, respectively.

Italy and Hungary have also witnessed surprising growth. Italy has nearly doubled its scheduled seats to 208,000, while Hungary has increased its offer by 76% to 114,000 seats.

One further boost is from the Tourism Minister, Nuria Montes, who has announced plans to meet with airlines and American tour operators in December to explore the possibility of direct flights between New York and Alicante.
