Residents of the Mar Azul residential complex in Torrevieja continue to face issues with camper vans and motorhomes parked in a nearby car park. Despite the City Council’s efforts to close the unauthorized parking area, camper vans have been returning to the site, causing inconvenience and frustration for local residents.

The Council ordered the closure of the car park last year, citing its designation as a private parking space for cars only. However, residents have reported that camper vans continue to park there overnight, effectively turning the area into an unauthorized campsite.

The Councillor for Police, Federico Alarcón, has confirmed that the issue has resurfaced and that the Council is taking steps to address it. He emphasized that the space is not licensed for overnight stays by camper vans and that the Council has obtained a court order supporting its closure.

Alarcón stated that the Council has received evidence, including videos and photographs from residents, showing that Motorhomes are still using the car park. If the situation persists, the Council may seek further legal action to enforce the closure order.

The Council’s efforts to resolve the issue have been hampered by previous administrative errors and legal challenges. However, the recent court ruling in favour of the Council provides a strong foundation for enforcing the closure order.
