On the 1st of September the artisans of Amata came for the last time to the port of Jávea to set up their stalls at the summer fair. But this doesn’t mean that you have to wait until next year to visit this charming fair. Starting on the 13th of September they will return on the weekends of September, setting up on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 to 11 pm and in October they will resume the weekly fair every Sunday morning.
It is a very special fair because it offers, apart from the Arts and Crafts stalls, impressive views of the port and the mountains and is surrounded by a wide choice of terraces on the seashore. On 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28 September, between 10 and 15 artisans will set up their stalls there, each offering something different and all handmade by themselves.
It is now more than ten years that craft association Amata has been organizing fairs in this corner of the port’s Paseo Marítimo. In 2013 they were invited by the local shopkeepers association to organize a fair that would stand out by the authenticity of its craft work. Amata carefully selects participants so that each one offers something different. With their hands, tools or a simple machine they turn natural or recycled materials into unique and original pieces, and they can often make something to order – in a different colour, with a name or a special size.
You will find the fair on the Paseo Marítimo of the Port of Jávea (it is indicated on Google Maps: put “Jávea Crafts Fair” in the search engine). Any change in the opening times (for example, due to bad weather) will be published on Facebook: fairartesaniajavea and at https://www.puebloartesano.es/javeaverano you can see photos of the expected stalls.
