The Orihuela Local Police have carried out an intervention in a premises allegedly managed by the Cannabis Association of Cannabis Smokers of Orihuela Costa, located on Calle Isla de Tabarca in the La Regia residential area. The police responded to several complaints received by residents due to the suspicious activity taking place inside the establishment.
There have been numerous complaints related to the strong smell of marijuana emanating from the premises, as well as the constant coming and going of young people, mainly tourists, who entered the establishment and left shortly after. These circumstances led the agents to monitor the premises, with the aim of verifying the legality of the activities carried out inside.
During the investigations, the local police tried to gain access to the establishment on several occasions, but they were denied access to the interior. It was not until a recent inspection that the officers finally managed to enter, also discovering the existence of a rear access door where they surprised three individuals who had jumped over the rear fence and were trying to flee the scene. The three men were subsequently detained.
The police found indications of the alleged sale of narcotic substances. These included a switched-on electronic scale and remains of marijuana, several glass jars containing marijuana buds labelled with the names of different varieties and containers with manufactured products that apparently contained cannabis derivatives with a high percentage of THC.
They also found a small refrigerator-bottle rack in which they found several hashish acorns. Given the absence of anyone in charge at the premises and after confirming that the three individuals detained came from inside, they were arrested as suspects of a crime against public health.
