The construction of the new sports centre in La Mata has deprived many residents of the Aqua Nature complex of a direct view of the sea that they previously enjoyed. Now, just metres from their properties, following the construction of the municipal sports hall, they are faced with a thick concrete wall.

Imagine that, after years of effort and sacrifice, you finally achieve your lifelong dream of living in an apartment with sea views. Waking up every morning to the sound of the waves and the seagulls, having the privilege of seeing the sea from your own home… and then it is snatched away from you by the actions of ‘an uncaring council’.

Now, faced with the constant and continuous complaints of the residents, the Torrevieja Town Hall has taken action, in an attempt to find a solution that satisfies the residents.

They have erected a canvas of a thousand square metres that seeks to alleviate the effects that the change in the panoramas in the area has produced.

But the residents of the building are still not coping very well, as they complain of the “feeling of confinement” that comes from having a concrete wall directly before their eyes, no matter what it is covered with.

Now the residents are considering taking action, given the proximity of the new sports centre to the coastline, as well as the speed with which the Torrevieja government modified the PGOU to change the maximum height allowed in the area in order to build the sports complex.

This event has quickly gone viral on social media. Even regional and national media have broadcast the story, given the picturesque and striking situation that has been generated with the placement of this canvas, which is now on its way to becoming a tourist attraction for La Mata.
