The Civil Guard has arrested a 43-year-old Spanish man in Benejúzar for allegedly committing robbery with violence and intimidation in a tobacco shop in Rafal on 28 July. The robbery was carried out at knifepoint, with the suspect demanding money and tobacco from the shop assistant.

In his statement, the shop employee said that the man entered the establishment in an obvious state of nervousness, and while hiding his head with a cap and his face with a T-shirt, he was  brandishing a knife in his other hand as he demanded money and tobacco.

The robber waved the knife threateningly in front of him while insisting: “Do you think I’m joking?” So the staff member handed over a 50 euro note and a packet of cigarettes with the robber then walking out of the shop.

The case was taken up by ​​the Callosa de Segura Civil Guard who gathered information, which bore fruit just a few days later, with the suspect located and then arrested in Benejúzar.

The detainee has numerous previous convictions for crimes against property and of a violent nature and has been charged with robbery with violence and intimidation, with a knife.
