The Councillor for Culture in Torrevieja, Antonio Quesada, and the Culture Coordinator of the Council, Manuel Esteban Moreno, presented the Cultural Programme for September-December 2024, which has a wide and varied offer with concerts, impressive musical shows, theatre, dance, children’s, comedy and much more.

Great productions such as “ABBA: The New Experience”, “Sleeping Beauty”, the “Royal Film Concert Orchestra” and “The Nutcracker”; together with the comedies of Faemino y Cansado and Ángel Martín, the long-awaited concert by Pastora Soler and other varied shows with local talent, make up the programme for the September-December 2024 season of Cultura Torrevieja

September

The cultural programme for the next four months begins with the ninth edition of the “Torrevieja Audiovisual” Film Festival. The show for the whole family “Sleeping Beauty” will also be premiered, giving a twist to the classic story, focusing on memory, recollections and cultural heritage. Later, the 36th “Ciudad de Torrevieja” International Choral Meeting will be presented, which promises to be a highlight in the musical scene, organised by the Francisco Vallejos Choir.

Later that month, there will be the highly anticipated comedy “El Sentido del Humor: Dos Tontos y Yo”, starring Florentino Fernández, José Mota and Santiago Segura, who will get up on stage together to make people laugh for 90 minutes; not to mention that a couple of hours before this show, “La Previa Gourmet” will be presented as a prelude, an exclusive dinner-cocktail with wine pairing organized by Qtal Gourmet, which together with the show will make the night an unforgettable memory.

To end September, the 17th anniversary of the Orfeón de Torrevieja will be celebrated, with a tribute concert to its great director, Mario Bustillo.

October

It will be a month full of events, starting with the International Day of Older Persons Gala, followed a few days later by the comedy “Mujeres: La Dramedia”, a fun theatre show that promises to be a macro pyjama party with the spirit of a television program.

That same weekend, the acclaimed Pastora Soler will perform to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her artistic career, and the first session of the XXI Musical Exchange Concert Campaign will also take place with performances by the Musical Society “La Paz” and the Torrevieja Musical Union.

The following weekend, Ismael Lemais and La Kiskillosa will be back with their new show “Madre Mía”, where they will talk about their new role as parents. That same night, we will have the show “ABBA: The New Experience” in the Auditorium, one of the best international tributes to the legendary Swedish band; and the next day we will have the first concert of the season by the Torrevieja Symphony Orchestra, with music from films, TV, and video games.

Later that month, the renowned vocal group Sette Voci will announce their first album at a concert; the following evening, the play “Animales de Companion” will be presented, which will question the value of friendship and sincerity; and also around that time, we will have the impressive operas “Maria Callas: Sfogato” and the international hit “Tosca, by Puccini”.

October will conclude with the long-awaited comedy show by Faemino and Cansado, the concert by Shani Ormiston, and, to celebrate Halloween night at the Teatro Municipal, the children’s musical “Juan Sin Miedo & la Casa Encantada”, which is about a young man who has never felt fear.

November

The penultimate month of the year begins with the 18th Flamenco Meeting organised by the Casa de Andalucía “Rafael Alberti”; it continues with the concert for the 20th Anniversary of the Manuel Barberá Choral Group and, also, we will have a concert by the Youth Band of the Torrevieja Musical Union.

On the 16th there will be the Coronation of the Queen of Salt 2024-2025 and in the following days, to celebrate the patron saint of Santa Cecilia, we will have the different concerts of Los Salerosos, the Torrevejense Musical Union and the Francisco Casanovas Professional Conservatory.

The month will conclude with a new concert by the Royal Film Concert Orchestra and music from 100 years of cinema, also with Diana Navarro’s opera “De la Piquer a la Navarro” and finally, with the show for the whole family “Lily: A Tale of Torrevieja”.

December

The last month of the season, and of the year, will start off strong with Ángel Martín’s comedy monologue dealing with mental health; a few days later, the Comic-Musical Magazine La Sal de Torrevieja will be presented and, in a special event, the Diego Ramírez Pastor Award will also be presented.

Ars Creatio will present the entertaining comedy “Eloísa está bajo un almendro” and the Culture Gala will also take place. A few days later, a new children’s show by the successful band Pica Pica is expected, as well as a Christmas concert by the Banda Juvenil de Los Salerosos.

Later, there will be a Christmas concert by the UMT Youth Band and also the wonderful show “The Nutcracker”, performed by the Barcelona Ballet.

The programme will reach its final shows with “Navidad Rociera”, organised by the Andalusian Cultural Association; followed by the theatre play “Los Amigos de Ellos Dos” – which reflects on how we perceive the place we occupy in this society – and, finally, the UMT’s “Broadway” Christmas concert will be presented.
