Civil Guard agents were at the offices all day Tuesday carrying out checks after a tip off.
Civil Guard agents descended on the ITV Station in the Fuente Álamo Technical Vehicle Inspection (ITV) station on Tuesday, following allegations of alleged irregularities in regard to the establishment’s service, according to sources.
The agents were in the offices carrying out checks on documentation with the centre managers. During the operation, the Benemérita arrested several people for an alleged crime of document falsification. The Traffic Research and Analysis Group (GIAT) of the Murcia Civil Guard will now keep the investigations open to determine if there is any anomaly in the performance of vehicle inspection.
Last year, the Civil Guard uncovered a plot of alleged fraud in periodic technical inspections at another ITV in the same municipality. That operation resulted in the arrest of seven people who were working at the local ITV station.
The operation focused on verifying the periodic technical inspections of vehicles, which presented deficiencies – some of them very serious – but nevertheless obtained a favourable result, passing the inspection without any mention of those faults, apparently, after payment of an agreed financial amount.
These criminal acts would be the cause of the circulation on the roads of a large number of vehicles that are in a poor condition, although with the proper ‘fit’ documentation.
